Choosing your Dishes

When buying your dishes you might want to pause to think about the decor you have already established in your home. The trouble is that often when buying dishes we get caught up in what is the newest most current fashion out there. Your home fashion is not unlike the clothing fashion industry, there are some things that you simply need avoid no matter how trendy they are at the moment. For example I remember when the goose craze was on and one day in passing, a friend of mine made the comment  "they're kinda cute". As it was, this comment was made shortly before she was to be married, you know where I'm going with this, right. To say the least after her wedding shower this friend had more than a complete set of goosy printed table ware. It was not long before she was tiered of the invariable dishes that she used every day several times a day.

So now to get strait to the point, before you buy a set of dishes you need to consider a few key points. What kind of decor have I already established in my home? If I choose a certain kind of table ware, stone ware, Italian style dishes or even fine bone china, for example. Will it interchange with what I have already?  Have I found all the choices out there? By the way the web is a great place to look. What am I willing to spend {what is my spouse willing to spend, or do I even have to tell him/her}?

Often when we head out and buy things for our home, even when we are not thinking of the whole picture, we end up with a good match. Because our personal tastes don't really change allot from year to year. This makes it easy to continue to add to our decor as we go along. And not so surprising when you bring a new dish set home and it looks great with your last dish set. However if you are actually looking to mach some new dishes to your old ones don't. Not unless you can actually order from the same manufacture that made your old dishes. Even then the dye lot is often not the exact mach to the previous lots of table ware already manufactured. To put it simply even if you can still order your dishes from your supplier you need to ask if there will be any variance in the colors. If so, and if it is important to you that they mach precisely you may be better of buying an entire new set of dishes. Another option that might be easier to do would be to buy dishes that compliment what you already own.
